Employability, CV’s, interviews..
0Every year the uni runs a ‘weekend’ away at Gregynog for those students who are looking to do an industrial year. The idea is to help open student’s eyes as to what employers are looking for. It was a really useful weekend, and it really made you think hard. Many interview questions are quite challenging and it can be very hard to feel like you’ve nailed an impressive answer when there is so many things you could say. I found myself enjoying the interview stage quite a lot! It might seem unusual but I liked the pressure of trying to answer these hard questions, plus trying to account for things where the interviewer thinks they can catch you out. At times it feels like you are just trying to outwit each other! I spent a good hour or two working my way through the CSS fiddling with it until I decided it was adequate. I think it has blended in nicely, let me know what you think.
After a couple of interesting talks today in my CS15020 “Web Development Tools” lecture I have been further inspired to work on the content for the site and I shall be updating the more ‘static’ pages which better content – whilst still trying not to waffle too much! I also had a lecture in my CS18010 module and was given the reminder to create my LinkedIn account which I have now done. It is not quite fully set up and raring to go, but it will be done shortly.
Work continues on my ongoing project Airsoft Forums UK. After a big request from members we are looking into selling patches to members to help support the forum and raise peoples’ awareness of it further. I am currently negotiating to give us and the forum members the best deal we can get. I’m also trying to implement a purchase system which I can seamlessly integrate with the forums. I had thought about using PayPal’s Merchant Services. Whilst it is free to stick a single buy button item on your site with a drop down list of products or similar, it wont’t allow me to keep More >
